Russia-Ukraine War

Biden, Trump and the Oil Price Blame Game’s Household Tab

Presidential accountability cannot be a partisan light switch. The comparison puts Biden-era WTI at $52.16 on Jan. 29, 2021, before Russia invaded Ukraine, then $113.23 on Apr. 2, 2026, after what it describes as Trump’s attack on Iran. Its argument is plain: Biden faced an external crisis; Trump chose escalation. That distinction matters when leaders want credit for calm and an excuse for chaos.

But two crude-price snapshots do not prove what caused either price, or dictate what anyone paid at the pump, in trucking, or at the grocery store. They do sharpen the accountability question: politicians should not call oil pain presidential failure only when it helps their team. Families get the invoice either way. Blame-shifting is not a payment method.
