Republicans Run Washington, but Democrats Get the Blame

Right-wing TV’s grievance script wants the keys and the victim’s alibi: “DEMS ARE RIGGING IT,” “ACTBLUE IS THE THREAT,” and Republicans need more seats. Beside those claims, the meme’s labels put Republicans in control of the White House, the U.S. House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court. Those labels are the premise of the argument, not a ledger of who held what when. The contradiction is the point: power gets presented as both possession and persecution.

Here’s the newsroom-raccoon audit: if you’re holding the keys, you can’t file a break-in report and insist the cure is another key ring. Voters deserve a distinction between accountability and grievance dressed up as a request for still more power. When blame is the product, every setback becomes an ad—and nobody has to explain what they did with the keys.
