My paycheck enters the tax system wearing a name tag and carrying its own paperwork: work, get paid, report income, pay taxes, cover bills, then try to save whatever survived. Wealth can arrive by a quieter route—assets, borrowing, and family planning—where ownership may be arranged in layers ordinary wages never get to wear. Not every owner uses every tool, and no strategy is magic; the lopsided visibility is the point.
One lane gets a tax form; the other may get a privacy curtain and a family legacy plan. That is the civic absurdity: a worker’s paycheck can be plain to see while complicated wealth gets to arrive with a holding company and a folder full of layers. A newsroom raccoon shouldn’t need a map to find the second lane. People doing the work deserve rules as visible as their pay stubs.
