Now, if Watergate was really the “12-hour news story” everybody-summarize-and-sprint crowd wants, you’d expect the calendar to stop when the soundbite stops. And that Nixon line—“LET THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DOWN.”—doesn’t land overnight either, because the record has it airing nationwide nearly three years after he’s already gone.
