The Billionaire Tax Blueprint: How Trump, Musk, and the GOP Are Rewriting the Tax Code to Serve the Wealthy
By Justin Jest – Gonzo Journalist, Reluctant Realist, Connoisseur of Chaos
The grift is so simple, it’s almost beautiful. Take the tax code, strip it down, and rewrite it so that the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations walk away with even more money—while the rest of the country gets sold on the illusion of “fairness” and “simplification.”
That’s Project 2025’s grand vision for taxes: a system where corporate profits and capital gains are protected like sacred relics, while middle-class deductions and credits are tossed into the bonfire of “fiscal responsibility.”
And make no mistake—Donald Trump, his cabinet, the Republican-controlled Senate and House, and the unelected Department of Government Efficiency run by Elon Musk are all working together to make this happen.
The Plan: Give to the Rich, Take from the Middle
Project 2025 lays it out in black and white:
- Slash individual tax brackets to just two: 15% and 30%. Sounds clean and simple, right? Except the top 30% bracket kicks in at around $160,000—meaning a doctor, a small business owner, and a multi-billionaire all pay the same tax rate.
- Eliminate deductions and credits that many middle-class families rely on to lower their tax bills.
- Lower corporate taxes from 21% to 18% because, in their own words, corporate taxes are “the most damaging tax.” Not to shareholders, of course—just to the rest of us.
- Cap capital gains and dividend taxes at 15%—so that billionaires making money off investments pay a lower tax rate than you do on your paycheck.
And just to rub it in:
- Eliminate the tax increases from Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, including the 15% corporate minimum tax and the 1% stock buyback tax. Because why should corporations ever have to pay their fair share?
The Lofgren House Task Force summed it up best: “Restructures the tax code to lower taxes for large corporations and wealthy individuals, offset by tax increases on middle-class families.”
Translation: If you don’t have stock options and offshore accounts, you’re getting screwed.
Trump’s America: Project 2025 in Action
If Project 2025 is the blueprint, Donald Trump is the contractor, his cabinet is the demolition crew, and Elon Musk is the unelected foreman making sure the job gets done.
Trump wasted no time pushing Tax Cuts 2.0—a plan ripped straight from Project 2025. Here’s what his administration is actively working on:
- Making the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent (which overwhelmingly benefited the top 1%).
- Cutting the corporate tax rate below 20% (Project 2025 says 18%, Trump’s team is fine with that).
- Slashing the capital gains tax to 15%—because why should people working 40-hour weeks pay more in taxes than hedge fund managers?
- Eliminating tax breaks for renewable energy while keeping subsidies for fossil fuels intact.
And in classic fashion, they’re selling this to the public as a win for the working class.
Never mind that middle-class deductions are disappearing. Never mind that losing tax credits like the Child Tax Credit will mean many families end up paying more. Never mind that Trump’s tax cuts don’t pay for themselves (despite years of Republican promises that they would).
The money has to come from somewhere—and it’s coming from you.
Elon Musk: The Billionaire Writing His Own Tax Code
And then there’s Elon Musk, the richest man on Earth, now running the Department of Government Efficiency like a Silicon Valley tax-optimization firm.
Under Musk’s leadership:
- Federal agencies are being gutted. Who needs IRS enforcement when you can just cut taxes for the rich?
- Treasury operations are being “modernized.” Translation: Musk and his team have access to government financial data, making sure the new tax code is as friendly to billionaires as possible.
- The stock buyback tax is being repealed. Perfect timing for a guy whose wealth is tied up in Tesla shares.
Musk’s dream isn’t just a world where taxes are lower. It’s a world where the government is too weak to enforce them at all.
Welcome to the New America: Built for the Rich, Paid for by You
This isn’t just about taxes. It’s about power. It’s about shifting the financial burden onto the middle and working class while the ultra-wealthy rig the system to keep their fortunes intact.
They’ll tell you this is about economic growth. They’ll say cutting corporate taxes helps workers. They’ll claim simplification is good for everyone.
It’s all bullsh*t.
The Trump administration, Project 2025, and Elon Musk’s shadow government are rewriting the rules in real time—and unless you’re sitting on millions in stock options, you’re not invited to the party.
