The Biden–Trump gas-price argument puts a $3.55 four-year average beside a $4.17 April 2026 figure. That is not a clean presidential report card; it is four years of arithmetic arriving at the podium beside one month in a borrowed suit. The contrast in leadership still matters: Biden’s term is framed around Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as an external shock, while the Trump comparison presents a U.S. operation against Iran as a choice. Those are different kinds of responsibility, but the figures alone do not prove who caused what.
The jobs, inflation and supply-chain claims belong in the same “show your work” folder. A gas pump can tell a family what filling the tank costs, not issue a verdict on presidential causation. The pump is a terrible press secretary—but it still knows when someone has brought a match to the meeting.
