The billionaire party’s work-shirt act arrives carrying a borrowed lunch pail and a very important speech about freedom. Workers hear family values, small government, hard work, anti-elite talk, and “drain the swamp.” In the bargain’s satirical accounting, billionaires get tax cuts, deregulation, union busting, public contracts, cheap leverage, corporate welfare, and privatized profits. The target isn’t workers who want dignity or a fair shake. It’s the arrangement that offers them outrage as a substitute.
That’s culture war for the workers; class advantage for the people holding the paperwork. A shirt can say “one of us,” but it can’t sign the contract or decide who benefits. The workwear is the costume. The contract is the punchline—and the question underneath it is who actually gets the deal.
